Environmental Laboratory Technician

The Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene is recruiting a student weekend/holiday laboratory technician. The position will be located at the State Lab’s 2601 Agriculture Drive facility (southeast Madison, near Stoughton Rd. and the Beltline). Duties will include: culture of organisms for toxicological testing (fish and invertebrates), performance of routine and non-routine aquatic toxicological testing and related quality assurance functions. This position will oversee the health and performance of the culture organisms. Have the ability to lift 50 pounds and do physical work, possibly out in the field. An interest and previous training in science and biology is desirable. The work schedule is approximately 4 hours per day on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Weekend work must generally be completed between 10 AM - 5 PM. Additional hours available Monday – Friday (up to 40 hours/week), depending on student’s availability.
