The Center for Ecology and the Environment held its Fall Symposium 2023 on October 16–17.
The goal of the Fall Symposium is to highlight the variety of ecology research across campus with a focus on newly-hired UW faculty in ecologically related fields.
As part of this annual event, our keynote speaker — Knute Nadelhoffer — gave two talks. We also heard talks from newly hired faculty at UW–Madison. Each day included opportunities to network and socialize.
Keynote Speaker
Knute Nadelhoffer
Professor Emeritus, Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, University of Michigan
Dr. Knute Nadelhoffer is a distinguished ecologist and environmental scientist renowned for his groundbreaking contributions to the field of ecosystem ecology. With a career spanning over four decades, Dr. Nadelhoffer has played a pivotal role in advancing our understanding of biogeochemical processes that determine ecosystem dynamics and functioning at local, regional, and global levels with a particular focus on temperate forests and the arctic tundra. His work investigates how relationships among soil biota, plants, and climate interact to determine ecosystem structure and stability. More information can be found on his lab’s website.
